The Directorate General for Water of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and the Environment (MAPAMA) of the Spanish Government awarded the ICEACSA – INNCIVE Joint Venture the contract for the drafting of the project to improve the San Cibrao das Viñas wastewater treatment plant (Ourense) in order to achieve good ecological and chemical status of the Barbaña River, as contemplated in the Hydrological Plan of the Miño-Sil District.
The aim of this action is to provide the existing WWTP with the necessary treatment to comply with the objectives set by Directive 91/271/EEC as regards discharge into sensitive areas and also to achieve the good ecological and chemical status of the Barbaña River, as contemplated in the Hydrological Plan of the Miño-Sil District.
To this end, it is necessary to draw up a project to study, define and evaluate the works necessary to alleviate the problems currently presented by the sanitation and purification infrastructures, all of this complementing the first phase already carried out.
This action is part of the Plan of Measures for Growth, Competitiveness and Efficiency (Plan CRECE) that the Ministry is implementing to improve water quality.
