THE PROJECT, DRAWN UP BY ICEACSA GRUPO, WILL INVOLVE AN INVESTMENT OF 9 MILLION EUROS.

Last December the Government Board of the Council of Vigo approved the rehabilitation and transformation of the surroundings of Gran Vía Avenue from Urzaiz Street to Nicaragua Street according to the design projected by ICEACSA Group.

The proposed design, with a budget of almost 9 million Euros, will connect the commercial area of Príncipe with Pizarro by installing mechanical ramps in eleven sections. The entire transit and recreation area shall be equipped with a glazed roof to allow the use of ramps and stagnant areas during rainy seasons.

The project designed by ICEACSA Group is inspired by elements from some of the world’s most cosmopolitan streets, such as Madrid and New York. The proposed rehabilitation contemplates the zoning of the rehabilitation on five islands, coinciding with the streets crossing Gran Vía Avenue. Each island includes an element that characterizes and distinguishes each area: ambient music, interactive floors, leisure and enjoyment spaces, wifi and recharge points for mobile phones, pavements that generate energy with the footprints of passers-by, sculpture areas,….

The approved project is part of the “Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) Vigo Vertical” which seeks to transform the most complex areas for pedestrians due to their orographic conditions into more comfortable and accessible places.
