The last January 2, the Official Gazette of Spanish Goverment, published the announcement by the Ministry of Public Works in which the “Informative Study of the Rail Access to the Outer Harbour of Ferrol” was finally approved, document prepared by ICEACSA Group in collaboration with the company PROYFE, and selecting the “SOUTH Solution” as the alternative to develop and determining its inclusion in the General Interest Railway Network.

The railway line defined in the SOUTH alternative has a length of 6.7 km, highlighting as singular elements a tunnel of 5.5 km length and a viaduct over the Sea Inlet of Ferrol of approximately 340 m, which shall comply with the recommendation of the Environmental Impact Statement to reduce to five, at most, the number of pillars in order to comply with the minimum damage to the bed of the inlet.
