ICEACSA Consultores has been awarded the contract for the “Study of the sewage infrastructures and drafting of the project to improve the sewage network and the wastewater treatment plant in O Barco de Valdeorras”.
The project aims to tackle the leaks of clean water that cause the sewage treatment plant to malfunction due to increased flow.
In October 2015, work was completed on the extension of the O Barco de Valdeorras WWTP, designed for a population of 13,124 inhabitants. In this project, calculations were made of the flows entering the plant taking into account only urban discharges; the filtrations of clean water in the process increase the flow and hinder the work of filtering and purification, causing polluted water to be discharged into the river.
To remedy these problems, the Miño-Sil Hydrographic Confederation awarded to ICEACSA Consultores the contract to draw up a study of the sewerage infrastructures and a project to improve the sewerage network and the wastewater treatment plant in O Barco de Valdeorras, which will define a new action to complete the general collectors and enable the wastewater treatment plant to efficiently treat the clean water that is currently entering.
To this end, the first step will be to undertake a study of solutions in which the best alternative for solving these problems will be studied, and then the construction project will be drawn up.
