The works will be carried out on 344 km of the Ruta de los Comuneros in the departments of Cundinamarca, Boyacá and Santander.

The Instituto Nacional de Vías (INVIAS) of Colombia awarded the ICEACSA Grupo – TPF Consortium the contract for the construction and maintenance, property management, social and environmental sustainability of the Ruta de los Comuneros (road corridor Zipaquirá – Barbosa – Bucaramanga; Girón – Piedecuesta), one of the most eagerly awaited road extensions in central Colombia due to the growing traffic in the area due to the agricultural and dairy importance of the region, boosting the economic reactivation of the central part of the country and the mobility of the inhabitants of the areas bordering the project. The cost of the works amounts to 116 million euros.

On 21 June last, the ground-breaking ceremony for the Zipaquirá-Ubaté dual carriageway took place, attended by representatives of the Instituto Nacional de Vías (INVIAS), the ICEACSA Grupo – TPF Consortium and the construction company. The construction of this new dual carriageway offers a road with high levels of operational service by reducing travel times, increasing road safety and boosting the commercialisation of local products.

The main activities to be carried out during the supervision of the Zipaquirá-Ubaté dual carriageway works are:

• Updating of designs.
• Improvement and paving in prioritised sectors of approximately 36,8 kilometres.
• Construction of the second carriageway of approximately 27,0 kilometres.
