THE RAMPS OF THE GRAN VIA OF VIGO REFORM PROJECT, DESIGNED BY ICEACSA Consultores, HAVE RECEIVED FIRST PRIZE IN THE “MOVING WALKS” CATEGORY OF THE ELEVATOR WORD INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

The renowned international magazine ‘Elevator World’, which each year awards the ‘Project of the Year’ prize to different constructions from all over the world, has awarded the first prize for the project of the year 2020 in the “Moving Walks” category to the mechanical ramps included in the Gran Vía of Vigo refurbishment project within the international competition that has completed its 23rd edition.

With a length of 162 metres, the Gran Vía ramps bridge the slope of the boulevard from the junction of María Berdiales Street to Venezuela Street with an inclination angle of between 4º and 5º and a capacity of between 6,000 and 7,000 people per hour.

Of the eight winning projects, the project designed by ICEACSA is the only one located in Spain, symbolizing an important recognition of a project framed in the “Strategy for Sustainable Urban Development (EDUSI) Vertical Vigo” marked by accessibility and sustainability in search of transforming the most complex areas for pedestrians by its orographic conditions in a more comfortable and accessible thanks to a unique design.
